Notification of RSC logo mark

The RIKEN SPring-8 Center (RSC) invited people to submit entries, from December 17th to January 31st last winter, in a contest to design its new logo. There were a total of 109 entries. After the first screening, 10 works passed the trademark survey for final selection. Finally, a work produced by Mr. Takahiro Okawa was selected as the new RSC logo. Mr. Okawa will be awarded as designer of the selected work.

Designer’s comment
The color blue has an image like "cool" and "intelligence" and so on. So, I thought this color matched the qualities of the research center. Then, I selected deep blue as the base color for the logo. Two circles are images of electrons. The circle on the left side is an image of an electron orbiting around the nucleus. The circle on the right side is an image of an accelerated electron. In addition, the color of these circles is dark bright yellow, taking into account logo visibility.
