Processing of light (Optical system/Transportation channel development)

  • RIKEN developed high-heatload double-crystal monochromators for the 27m in-vacuum undulator. They are now being used as the standard device for SPring-8’s undulator beamlines.
  • RIKEN developed and adopted wide-range double crystal monochromators which can emit photons (light particles) in a wide range of energies without requiring change. They are used as the standard in the SPring-8 bending magnet beamlines..
  • RIKEN has completed the world’s longest beamline for use in physics and materials science, at 1,000 m. Also completed the world’s brightest X-ray beamline using a 27-m undulator. And now constructing a soft-X-ray beamline for advanced soft-X-ray science.

1000m long beamline

The world’s highest-energy resolution X-ray monochromator beamline (BL19LXU), with energy of 120fEeV at 14.4keV.
