Our research focuses on working mechanisms of biological macromolecular machines. There are many huge macromolecular complexes in living organisms, but these are often hard to crystallize because of their size, complexity and heterogeneity. We combine cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography and coherent X-ray diffraction imaging, and develop new technologies such as electron crystallography and higher-resolution electron and X-ray imaging. Our targets include energizing channels and various macromolecular complexes.
