Dr.Koji Yonekura and Dr.Saori Maki-Yonekura receive Ernst-Ruska-Award
Associate Chief Scientist Dr. Yonekura of the RIKEN SPring-8 Center’s Yonekura Biostructural Mechanism Laboratory and researcher Dr. Maki-Yonekura of the Protein Crystallography Research Group were awarded the 2009 Ernst-Ruska Award for their work entitled “Contribution Toward Elucidating the Mechanisms of Biological Macromolecular Machines by Cryo-Electron Microscopy”. Associated with the 1986 Nobel Prize in Physics won by Dr. Ernst Ruska, the Ernst-Ruska Award is a highly prestigious award created in 1981 by the German Society for Electron Microscopy to honor research that employs the electron microscope. The award ceremony was held in Graz, Austria on August 31, 2009.
