Expertise :

Yoshinori Nishino completed his PhD at Osaka University in 1996 with a theoretical study of quarks and gluons in hadrons. He joined the Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (JASRI) at SPring-8 in 1996. From 1998 to 2000, he worked at the Hamburger Synchrotron Strahlungslabor (HASYLAB) at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) as a guest scientist where he researched atomic-resolution X-ray holography, both in experiments and theory, in Prof. Materlik’s group. In 2001, he joined RIKEN at SPring-8 where he performed pioneering work in biological coherent diffractive imaging in Prof. Ishikawa’s group. In 2010, he joined Hokkaido University as a professor. He recently completed single-shot live cell imaging using the Japanese X-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) facility at SACLA. He has also started collaboration with Toyota Motor Corp. on XFEL imaging.
