Expertise : Tooru Shimizu graduated from Nagoya University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering in 1975. His studies focused on the flow dynamics of turbulent boundary layers. He received a Dr. Eng. degree from Nagoya University in 1989.   In 1975, he joined Hitachi Zosen Corp., where he developed performance improvements for exhaust gas treatment in combustion plants and fluid machines. From 1990 to 1997, he participated in the national project for the manganese nodule mining system and contributed to the development of an air-lift pump. From 2005 to 2012, he served as General Manager for the Technical Research Institute, Business and Product Development Center.   He is currently the Managing Director, General Manager for the Technology Development Headquarters, where he is responsible for the Technology Development Headquarters, the Precision Machinery Headquarters, and the Information Systems Department.
