Expertise : After receiving a master's degree from the University of Tokyo, Shunji Goto joined Fujitsu Limited in 1986. His primary research and development focused on the design and construction of beamlines for X-ray lithography using a compact ring. He received a PhD from the University of Tokyo in 2000, where he worked on simulations of solid-state detectors. He joined the SPring-8 project in 1995. He worked on the construction of SPring-8 beamlines, mostly on hard X-ray beamlines including the 1-km-long one and the SACLA beamline. He has served as the Director of the Light Source and Optics division since 2007. He has also served as the Director of the Innovative Light Source Division of RIKEN SPring-8 Center since October 2014.
