Expertise : After his studies on the surface structure of clean metal surfaces using surface EXAFS and XPS at Hiroshima University, he joined Toshiba as a scientist of surface analysis in 1991. He engaged mainly in photoelectron spectroscopy researching many kinds of materials and devices for the R&D division in Toshiba and restarted XAFS experiments of thin films for semiconductor devices in the Photon Factory, and later, SPring-8. Starting in 2004, he also worked on HAXPES applications for industrial fields. In 2013, he led the development of HAXPES instruments at the SUNBEAM beamline in SPring-8 for industrial users.
