Expertise : Yuen-Chung Liu completed his PhD in nuclear physics at Tokyo University of Education (Tsukuba University) in 1967. From 1971 to 1997, he joined National Tsing-Hua University (NTHU) as professor and also served as the dean of College of Science from 1979 to 1982. From 1982 to 1987, he was elected the president of the Physical Society of Republic of China (Taiwan) and later, from 1989 to 1993, served as the president of Taiwan Vacuum Society. In the year of 1982, he joined the Taiwan Light Source (TLS) project and led the construction group. In the year of 1993, when the first third generation light source in Asia, the TLS, became operational, Liu served as the director of NSRRC from 1994 to 1997.
