Expertise : Ki Bong Lee completed his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985 with transport and X-ray diffraction studies for quasi-one dimensional crystals. He joined POSTECH as an assistant professor and participated in planning for Pohang Light Source (PLS) in 1987 and led a Task Force Team to get its construction budget from POSCO. After Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) was established in 1988, he led the Beamline Division of PLS until he returned to Physics Department of POSTECH in 1997. He served as an Assistant Director for Scientific Programs of PAL between 2000 and 2004. During his term, a serious campaign for Korean XFEL facility started. He led the Task Force Team for planning upgrade project of PLS (PLS-II) until its budget was approved in 2008.
