Expertise :

Katsuyuki Kudo graduated from Keio University with a Bachelor’s degree in Law and from the University of Sheffield with a Master’s degree in Biotechnological Law and Ethics. In 1995, he joined Science and Technology Agency (STA), governmental body of former MEXT. He has been working on legislation and policy making in legal and science/technology cross-over subjects (e.g., nuclear regulation, bioethics, and industry-academia collaboration). Between 2007 and 2010, he was assigned to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as a policy analyst/administrator for the Global Science Forum (GSF). In 2013, he was appointed as the director of the Office for Quantum Radiation Research, which is responsible for the funding and access policy of large research infrastructures, including SPring-8, SACLA and J-PARC.
